In Environmental Studies pupils learn about the world they live in.  It is important they develop a wide range of skills in order to investigate and understand their environment.  They should also develop informed attitudes to environment issues and their own health and welfare.

The national guidelines for 5 – 14 Environmental Studies are divided into 3 areas:

In science pupils should investigate living things and the processes of life and develop an understanding of energy, forces, earth and space.

Social Subjects

In Social Subjects pupils should look at societies at different times (history) and in different places (geography).  This will, for example, involve them in studying important people and events in the past: in investigating transport and communication networks at home and further a field; and in looking at the ways in which our communities are run.
